TROOPS INTERCEPT VANS CARRYING SUPPLIES TO ISWAP FIGHTERS IN BORNO
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have intercepted two pick-up vans suspected to be transporting logistics supplies to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.
The interception was carried out by troops of Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North East, working closely with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force. The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that supplies were being moved from Dapchi in Yobe State towards the Magumeri area of Borno.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lt Col Sani Uba, the troops acted swiftly on the intelligence and deployed tactically along the identified route, where the two vehicles were successfully intercepted.
Items recovered from the vans included spare tyres and rims, bicycles, ignition key starters, alternators, food items such as flour, garri, and yams, bags of charcoal, blankets, a mattress, clothing for adults and children, mobile phones, a power bank, and cash in different denominations. The two vehicles used in conveying the items were also seized.
Lt Col Uba said the drivers of the vehicles, along with the recovered items, are currently in military custody and undergoing interrogation to determine their level of involvement and to support ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.
He noted that the operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led military actions and the importance of sustained collaboration between troops and local security partners in disrupting terrorist supply routes.
The military assured residents of the North-East that troops remain committed to cutting off terrorist logistics, denying insurgents freedom of movement, and ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens across the region
