Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have killed eight suspected terrorists and rescued three kidnapped victims during coordinated operations, according to a military statement.

The operation’s Media Information Officer, Captain Tamuno Sinive, said troops also recovered weapons, ammunition and motorcycles.

In Katsina State, soldiers responded to a distress call from farmers reporting terrorist activity around Machika Dam in Sabuwa Local Government Area on October 24, 2026.

According to Sinive, troops engaged the suspects in a gun battle, killing two while others fled. They rescued a 42-year-old man, Suleiman Umar, and recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing ammunition and a motorcycle.

In a separate operation in Kaduna State, troops working with the Civilian Joint Task Force responded to reports of an attack on Ungwan Mallami village, where two people had been abducted.

While pursuing the attackers, the troops encountered an ambush around Ungwan Iya in Igabi Local Government Area.

The military said soldiers fought back, killing six suspected terrorists while others escaped. Three locally fabricated guns, two motorcycles, cutlasses and assorted charms were recovered.

The statement said three kidnapped victims were rescued across the operations.
