TROOPS NEUTRALISE 6 TERRORISTS, ARREST 11 SUSPECTED COLLABORATORS IN BORNO
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed six suspected terrorists and arrested 11 alleged collaborators during operations in Borno State, according to a military operational report.
The report, made available on Sunday, said the operations targeted fighters and suspected support networks in Kaga and Gwoza Local Government Areas.
In Kaga, troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade Garrison, supported by Hybrid Force personnel, ambushed suspected ISWAP and JAS fighters along the Targejeri axis shortly after midnight on October 25.
The military said six fighters were killed during the encounter. An AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 169 rounds of ammunition, phones and other items were reportedly recovered.
In a separate operation in Benisheikh on October 24, troops arrested six additional suspected collaborators. This brought the number detained in connection with the investigation to 11, following five earlier arrests.
The suspects are being investigated to establish whether they supported terrorist activities and to identify possible links to other members of the network.
Meanwhile, troops of the 192 Battalion and supporting personnel received a member of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad who surrendered at Hambagda Internally Displaced Persons Camp in Gwoza on Saturday night.
The reported casualties and recoveries are based on the military’s account. The allegations against those arrested remain under investigation.
