TROOPS NEUTRALISE SCORES OF TERRORISTS, RECOVER ARMS IN ZAMFARA, KADUNA
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have neutralised several terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition during separate operations in Zamfara and Kaduna states.
The operations, conducted on Wednesday, September 2, were carried out by troops of Sectors 1 and 2 as part of efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and the movement of arms across the region.
In Zamfara, troops of Sector 2 ambushed terrorists reportedly moving from the Fakai General Area towards Kwanar Jolof and Tashar Dole in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas.
The Media Information Officer of the operation, Lt Col Aliyu Danja, said the troops engaged the terrorists and neutralised scores of them, while others escaped.
The troops recovered an RPG launcher, an RPG bomb, an AK-47 rifle, six magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle, among other items.
In Kaduna, troops of Sector 1 intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint along the Saulawa-Zaria Road. One passenger reportedly resisted a search of his bag and attempted to flee before he was pursued and neutralised.
A subsequent search of the bag allegedly uncovered 793 rounds of ammunition concealed inside garri. The vehicle and its driver were taken into military custody for further investigation.
Danja said the operations formed part of the sustained offensive to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt arms supplies and restrict the movement of terrorists across the North-West.
He reaffirmed the troops’ commitment to restoring lasting peace and security in communities affected by terrorism in the region.
