Several people narrowly escaped death on Thursday after a truck lost control and rammed into multiple vehicles at the Berger Bridge T-Junction in Epe, Lagos State.

The truck, said to have suffered a brake failure, ran into a tricycle and four cars waiting at the junction, leaving them badly damaged.

An eyewitness, Mr. Ademola, said the driver had been shouting that his brake had failed moments before the crash. “Before we knew it, the truck had already crashed into the tricycle and several cars. People were screaming and running everywhere,” he recounted.

Another witness, Mrs. Kehinde, described the incident as terrifying. “The tricycle was badly crushed, and several people were injured. Thank God no life was lost,” she said.

Emergency teams, including operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and local security personnel, quickly arrived to rescue victims and manage the traffic situation.

Authorities confirmed that although no deaths were recorded, several persons sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The accident, however, caused a major traffic gridlock, leaving commuters stranded for hours along the busy axis.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
