US President Donald Trump has called for the death penalty for the man accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The suspect, Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested in Utah after a two-day manhunt. According to authorities, Robinson’s father, Matt, extracted a confession from his son before contacting a clergyman friend, who alerted the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. Robinson was later taken into custody by US Marshals around 10 pm local time.

Speaking during a live interview on Fox TV, President Trump described Kirk as “the finest person” and insisted that justice must be served.

“He’s going to be found guilty, I imagine. And I hope he gets the death penalty,” Trump said.
“Charlie Kirk was the finest person. He didn’t deserve this. He worked so hard, and so well. Everybody liked him.”

Kirk, 31, a father of two, was fatally shot with a hunting rifle across the campus of Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

The tragic incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for stronger security measures on campuses. Meanwhile, Robinson remains in custody as investigations continue.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
