TWO ARRESTED OVER KILLING OF 22-YEAR-OLD IN GOMBE, POLICE HUNT OTHERS
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two young men in connection with the brutal killing of 22-year-old Dauda Ahmed in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Babayo Musa and 18-year-old Zaidu Sani, allegedly conspired with two others — Sulaiman and Usama, who are still on the run — to attack Ahmed over suspicions that he had stolen a motorcycle.
According to police reports, the incident happened on Tuesday morning at Jauro Musa Quarters, where Ahmed was ambushed and attacked with machetes. He sustained deep wounds to the head and stomach and was rushed to the General Hospital in Kumo, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police spokesperson DSP Buhari Abdullahi condemned the killing, describing it as a “clear case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.” He stressed that jungle justice is a crime, no matter the allegation.
“Two suspects have been arrested and have confessed to the attack. We are still on the trail of the remaining suspects, and they will be brought to justice,” Abdullahi said.
The case, first reported by the victim’s elder brother, prompted swift action from the Divisional Police Officer of Akko Division, CSP Adam Ngubdo, who led a team to the crime scene before arresting the suspects.
The matter has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution. Police have urged residents to remain law-abiding, avoid mob action, and assist in tracking the fleeing suspects by providing credible information.
