The Kebbi State Police Command has apprehended two men over allegations of defiling minors in separate incidents in Zuru and Birnin Kebbi.

The Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, made this known during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

According to him, the first incident occurred on August 27 when a 10-year-old girl, Vina Shehu, from Bedi in Zuru Local Government Area, was allegedly lured into a room and assaulted by one Amos Jondo Maliki.

In another case on September 6, a five-year-old girl, Nana A’isha Aminu Wala, from the Goribbu area of Birnin Kebbi, had reportedly gone to buy sweets when a 48-year-old man, Mansuru Sani, allegedly lured her into his shop and assaulted her.

The Police Commissioner said detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) investigated the incidents, after which the suspects were charged to court.

He appreciated the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Junaidu Bello Marshall, for ensuring prompt prosecution and assured residents of the Command’s continuous commitment to safeguarding vulnerable persons.

Sani further advised parents to remain vigilant, monitor their children closely, and promptly report any suspected cases of abuse to the police.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
