TWO NIGERIANS ARRESTED IN INDIA OVER DRUG TRAFFICKING
Two Nigerians have been arrested by police in India over alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
The suspects were apprehended in South Delhi’s Maidan Garhi following a targeted police operation based on specific intelligence.
Authorities said the arrests followed information received on April 27 that the suspects would arrive in the area to supply narcotics.
Acting on the tip-off, officers laid an ambush and intercepted the men around 10:30 p.m. while they were riding a scooter.
During a search, police recovered 102 grams of cocaine, along with 13 grams of MDMA and 85 grams of methaqualone.
The substances were classified as commercial and intermediate quantities under India’s drug laws.
The suspects were identified as 26-year-old Chijioke Wisdom, said to be a resident of Lagos, and 43-year-old Chiqozie from Owerri in Imo State.
Police added that both men were residing in India without valid visas.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, while investigations are ongoing to trace the drug supply network and possible accomplices.
