Gunmen Kidnap Two Women in Kwara State’s Edogi Community

Fear has gripped Edogi community in Kwara State after suspected armed men kidnapped two women in the early hours of Friday.

The attack occurred around 2:00 a.m. when the gunmen stormed the home of 50-year-old Alhaji Mustapha and abducted his wives — Shafa’u Mustapha and 35-year-old Fauzat Mustapha.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the incident on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, sparking public concern over the rising cases of abduction in rural communities.

The Kwara State Police Command, Zone 8 Lokoja, confirmed the kidnapping and assured residents that a massive search operation had begun. According to police, security forces — including soldiers, police officers, vigilantes, and local hunters — have been deployed to comb nearby bushes in a bid to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing and have urged anyone with useful information to come forward.

The incident is the latest in a string of attacks by armed groups targeting rural communities across Nigeria, raising fresh calls for improved security measures in vulnerable areas.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
