British Foreign Office acts after designating IRGC operative and criminal network facilitator over alleged overseas threat plots and state-backed intimidation operations

The Government of the United Kingdom has formally summoned the Iranian Ambassador to London while imposing immediate asset freezes and travel bans on two Iranian nationals accused of participating in state-backed threat plots and hostile operations.

The diplomatic escalation follows statements issued by British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, who underscored that the United Kingdom will not tolerate intimidation, foreign interference, or hostile security activities directed from abroad.

Under instructions from the Foreign Office,

Minister for the Middle East Stephen Doughty summoned the Iranian diplomat to deliver a formal protest, demanding an immediate end to alleged state-sponsored plots against dissidents and international targets.

Simultaneously, financial and border restrictions were instituted against Ruhollah Bazghandi, identified as the Head of Counterespionage Operations within Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Shahram Ali Reza Tamarzadeh Jakki, a key facilitator linked with the Zindashti criminal network.

According to security officials, the designated individuals were implicated in organizing, facilitating, and attempting to execute hostile activities designed to target foreign interests and overseas dissidents.

The economic measures place an immediate freeze on all assets held by the designated individuals within British jurisdiction, alongside strict travel bans and corporate director disqualifications.

British authorities reaffirmed their ongoing commitment to safeguarding national security, noting that regulatory frameworks surrounding state threats will continue to be enforced strictly against foreign entities engaging in destabilizing operations.
