A senior lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Samuel Ojogbo, is under investigation following allegations that he s3xually assaulted a 20-year-old female undergraduate.

The student, a 300-level undergraduate, reported to the police on August 28, 2025, that the lecturer attacked her inside his office on August 22, 2025, around noon. She alleged that he forcibly violated her, after which she was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Confirming the development, UNILAG’s management said the case has been officially reported to the police and that its Safeguarding Centre is currently offering support and counselling to the student.

Speaking on behalf of the institution, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, Head of the Communication Unit, revealed that an investigative panel has been set up to review the allegations. She assured that the findings will be made public once the inquiry is concluded.

“The University of Lagos remains committed to a safe and supportive environment for all students. A thorough investigation will be carried out, and justice will be ensured,” she said.

Alaga-Ibraheem also urged students and staff to use the school’s reporting channels to immediately flag any cases of harassment or misconduct, stressing that UNILAG maintains a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment.

Meanwhile, the police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the lecturer is being closely monitored as part of the probe.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
