US EMBASSY, LAGOS CONSULATE TO CLOSE MONDAY FOR MEMORIAL DAY
The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day.
According to a notice released by the US Mission in Nigeria, all regular consular services, including visa interviews, passport processing, and non-emergency assistance, will not be available on that day.
Memorial Day is a public holiday in the United States dedicated to honouring American military personnel who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces.
The embassy advised the public, particularly visa applicants and those with pending business, to plan their schedules accordingly. Normal operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
However, emergency services for American citizens in Nigeria will continue to be available through the embassy’s 24-hour emergency hotline.
Applicants are encouraged to check the official US Embassy website for any updates regarding appointments and service timelines affected by the closure.
