U.S. MILITARY EXPERTS ARRIVE NIGERIA TO STRENGTHEN COUNTER-TERRORISM CAPACITY
The Defence Headquarters has confirmed the arrival of approximately 100 United States military personnel and related equipment at the Bauchi Airfield.
In a statement on Monday, Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, said the deployment followed a formal request by the Federal Government of Nigeria and forms part of a structured programme focused on military training, technical support, and intelligence sharing.
He clarified that the visiting personnel are technical specialists serving strictly in advisory and training roles, not combat troops. According to him, all activities will be carried out under the authority and control of the Nigerian Government, in close coordination with the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The DHQ noted that the collaboration is intended to strengthen Nigeria’s technical capacity to counter terrorist threats and better protect vulnerable communities nationwide.
Uba added that Nigerian troops and the U.S. advisers will commence a series of joint training sessions and intelligence-driven cooperation aimed at boosting operational effectiveness.
Reaffirming its commitment to national security, the DHQ assured Nigerians of continued transparency and timely, accurate updates on the ongoing military cooperation efforts.
