VAN DIJK URGES LIVERPOOL TO SIGN NEW STRIKER AFTER COMMUNITY SHIELD LOSS
Liverpool Captain Calls for Fresh Attacking Option After Key Departures
Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk has urged the club to bring in a new forward following their Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Speaking after the match, the Dutch defender pointed out that the Reds have lost two major attacking players this summer — Luis Díaz, who joined Bayern Munich, and Darwin Núñez, who moved to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
“Well, we just lost Darwin to Saudi and Lucho to Bayern,” Van Dijk told talkSPORT. “I think there is always room for another attacker to strengthen us, so let’s see what the transfer window brings.”
The loss of two key forwards has left Liverpool’s attacking options thinner, and Van Dijk believes a new signing could help restore balance to the squad.
The club has been linked with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who is reportedly interested in a move to Anfield. However, no agreement has been reached with the Magpies yet.
With the transfer window still open, fans will be watching closely to see if Liverpool answers their captain’s call for reinforcements.
