The tragic death of Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija star Phyna, has sparked outrage, with activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, openly criticizing both the Dangote Group and the Nigerian government.

Ruth passed away on Sunday after battling severe injuries sustained in a road accident involving a Dangote truck near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State. Her death was confirmed by Eko Solicitors & Advocates on behalf of the Otabor family.

In a strongly worded reaction, Verydarkman accused President Bola Tinubu, the Dangote Group, and influential Nigerians on social media of abandoning Ruth during her fight for life. He claimed that despite repeated calls for intervention, no meaningful support was provided.

“Phyna’s sister has finally died, and now everyone is posting RIP. But when we needed those voices to pressure Dangote to do the right thing, people stayed quiet. She spent 19 days in the hospital. Nigeria has failed us. President Tinubu, you have failed us all. Dangote Group, are you happy now? You had the chance to fly that girl abroad for treatment,” he said.

Ruth’s death has not only left her family in deep mourning but has also reignited conversations around corporate accountability, road safety, and government responsibility in Nigeria.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
