Nollywood legend Joke Silva is mourning the loss of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, who passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 72.

The actress shared the heartbreaking news on her Instagram page on Thursday, accompanied by a touching tribute that reflected their close bond.

“With acceptance of God’s Sovereign will, we announce the call to the glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva …Long John Silva…Bros B…Uncle B…. my easy-going go go-go-go-lucky brother. Rest in peace. January 22nd, 1953 – August 29th, 2025,” she wrote.

Though not a public figure like his famous sister, John Olabiyi Silva was fondly known by several nicknames, including “Long John Silva,” “Bros B,” and “Uncle B.”

Following the announcement, colleagues from the movie industry and fans flooded Joke Silva’s page with condolence messages, offering prayers and comfort to the family.

The loss marks another difficult moment for the actress, who is widely respected as one of the pillars of Nollywood and admired for her strength on and off screen.
