Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, openly cautioned Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for singing during a public ceremony, threatening to cut off his microphone.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Ile-Ife during her installation as Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua. A viral video circulating online shows Governor Adeleke singing worship songs while delivering his speech at the event.

Midway through his address, Remi Tinubu approached the podium and warned him to stop the singing or risk having the microphone switched off. She was seen mouthing the words: “You have five minutes to finish your speech. Enough of the singing, or I will turn off the microphone.”

The clip has since triggered widespread reactions online, with many questioning her conduct and describing the exchange as inappropriate for a public function.

A user, Aremo3825981, commented: “What do you think will happen if he sings ‘on your mandate we shall stand’?”

Another user, U_y_a_i, wrote: “Unacceptable public conduct. There are better ways to communicate time limits than threatening to cut off a Governor’s mic.”
