The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended 68 individuals involved in various criminal activities, including a syndicate allegedly engaged in defrauding people seeking admission into foreign institutions.

Others among the arrested suspects were linked to crimes such as armed robbery, murder, and traffic-related offences.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, revealed these developments during a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters on Monday. He reported that 17 firearms were seized in the operations, along with multiple stolen vehicles, including a 2021 Lexus SUV Hybrid valued at over ₦75 million.

CP Jimoh attributed the recent achievements to newly implemented security strategies and the strong backing from the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, as well as Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He also expressed appreciation for members of the public who provided vital intelligence that contributed to the successful arrests.

Items recovered and showcased to journalists included 17 different firearms—such as English pistols and a high-powered assault rifle—four vehicles used by criminal groups, six laptops, and other evidence.

The Commissioner detailed how officers, on July 12, 2025, arrested a 26-year-old ex-convict named Biliaminu, accused of robbing a Toyota Camry from its owner. The car was promptly recovered. In another operation, detectives intercepted a luxury Lexus SUV worth ₦75 million that had been brought into Lagos without registration or import documentation. The suspect in possession of the vehicle is currently in custody.

Also arrested was a notorious “one chance” gang operating with a Suzuki minibus. The group, which included a female suspect said to lure victims into the vehicle, allegedly robbed a businesswoman of several hundred thousand naira.

CP Jimoh affirmed that investigations are still in progress and that all suspects will face prosecution once investigations are concluded.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
