VODAFONE TO TAKE FULL CONTROL OF UK MOBILE OPERATOR IN £4.3BN DEAL
Vodafone Group has announced a £4.3 billion ($5.8 billion) agreement to acquire full ownership of its UK mobile network joint venture, VodafoneThree.
The deal will see Vodafone buy out the remaining 49% stake held by Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison Holdings through a share cancellation arrangement.
VodafoneThree was created last year following the merger between Vodafone UK and Three UK, forming the country’s largest mobile operator by customer base.
According to Vodafone, the move is aimed at accelerating investment in the UK’s digital infrastructure and improving operational efficiency.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
Industry analysts say the buyout reflects Vodafone’s broader restructuring strategy under CEO Margherita Della Valle, which has included job cuts and asset sales across Europe as the company focuses on core markets.
Market experts noted that the company is showing early signs of recovery, with improved performance in key regions such as Germany and stabilisation in its UK operations.
Vodafone is expected to release its annual financial results next week, which will provide further insight into its restructuring progress and future outlook.
