WAFCON 2025: AJIBADE URGES FULL SUPPORT FOR FALCONS’ 10TH TITLE CHASE
As the countdown begins for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has called for full backing from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and all relevant stakeholders to support the team’s dream of clinching a record-extending 10th continental title.
The highly anticipated tournament will take place in Morocco from July 5 to July 26, with Nigeria’s Super Falcons placed in Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana. The team kicks off their campaign against Tunisia on July 6 at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
In a recent interview on the Super Falcons Show, Ajibade shared the mood in camp and stressed the importance of total support — not just from the players, but from everyone behind the scenes.
“There’s a lot of confidence in camp and we’re committed to our goal,” she said. “We all understand what’s at stake. Every player heading to the tournament wants to compete and win.”
The Atlético Madrid star emphasized that while the team is mentally and physically prepared to give their all on the pitch, true success will only come with unity and collaboration at all levels.
“We will give everything on the pitch, but we also know that success depends on both internal and external factors,” Ajibade added. “We’ll continue to do our part as players, but we hope everything behind the scenes is properly handled to help us perform at our best and ultimately bring the trophy home.”
Nigeria has dominated women’s football in Africa, winning nine WAFCON titles, more than any other nation. However, with competition growing tougher across the continent, Ajibade’s call for support reflects the need for strategic preparation and collective effort.
Fans and followers will be hoping that the Super Falcons can once again rise to the occasion, fueled by talent, passion, and strong support from the nation they proudly represent.
