Veteran Nigerian singer and rapper, Seyi Sodimu, has crowned Wande Coal as the most talented artist in the Afrobeats scene, crediting him with shaping the sound that inspired superstars like Wizkid and Davido.

In a recent interview with comedian Teju Babyface, Sodimu described Wande Coal as a game-changer whose unique style marked a turning point for modern Afrobeats.

“Wande Coal was one of the pivotal moments where he switched Afrobeats to the new generation, influencing people like Wizkid, Davido, and Sean Tizzle. His style brought the new sound to life. I think he is the most-talented Nigerian Afrobeats artist,” Sodimu said.

When asked if Wande Coal gets the recognition he deserves, Sodimu explained that while streams may not tell the full story, the respect from fellow artists is undeniable.

“Any artist you ask — even Burna Boy — will attest to Wande Coal’s artistry. He’s actually operating at 30% and still killing it. Imagine if he was at 78%! Wande is a genius; he can sing, he writes, he’s amazing.”

Sodimu’s comments have sparked fresh conversations online about Wande Coal’s influence and whether the industry has fully celebrated his contributions to Afrobeats’ global rise.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
