The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has disclosed that train services along the Warri-Itakpe route will resume shortly, following a temporary suspension for crucial track repairs.

This update was shared in a statement on Friday by the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, who noted that repair efforts have reached an advanced phase. He added that full operations would recommence “in the shortest possible time.”

The train service on the Warri-Itakpe line was suspended in April after engineers identified a persistent fault that remained unresolved despite earlier interventions. Based on expert advice, the NRC temporarily shut down operations to conduct urgent repairs, prioritizing passenger safety and service reliability.

“We are glad to announce that repair work on the affected sections is nearing completion. A formal announcement will be made soon to communicate the official date of resumption,” the statement read.

The corporation appreciated passengers for their patience and understanding during the service suspension and reiterated its dedication to providing safe, efficient rail services across the country.

The Warri-Itakpe line remains a key transport link across multiple states, facilitating both passenger mobility and economic exchange. The return of operations is expected to stimulate regional commerce and ease the burden on commuters affected by the halt in service.

By suspending operations to focus on urgent maintenance, the NRC has demonstrated its commitment to safety and service quality. The anticipated resumption is a positive step toward restoring confidence in the nation’s rail transport system.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
