WE’RE NOT BLIND FOLLOWERS — TINUBU SUPPORT GROUP DEFENDS 2027 BACKING
A group of loyal supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, known as the Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), has made it clear that their support for the president ahead of the 2027 elections is not based on blind loyalty, but on long-standing commitment and belief in his leadership.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the group’s National Coordinator, Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, addressed critics and political opponents, saying they’ve stood with Tinubu since the early days—long before he officially joined the 2023 presidential race.
“We’ve been supporting Tinubu even before he publicly declared his ambition. Our support is rooted in truth and the national interest,” Alawuje stated.
The group responded to recent moves by rival politicians forming new coalitions, warning Nigerians to remain alert and not be misled. According to DOJ, many of those repositioning themselves as alternatives were key players in past administrations that led the country astray.
“These are former vice presidents, governors, and ministers who once held power and misused it. Titles don’t equal integrity. Nigerians remember their track record,” the group emphasized.
DOJ also reaffirmed its support for Tinubu’s bold economic decisions, especially the removal of fuel subsidy. They admitted that the reforms brought discomfort, but argued that they were necessary to rebuild a system they described as “rotten.”
“Yes, the reforms have caused some hardship, but it’s part of the cost of fixing what’s broken. President Tinubu isn’t perfect, but he’s working hard to stabilize the country.”
As political activities ahead of 2027 begin to pick up pace, the DOJ urged Nigerians not to fall for empty promises or old tactics. Instead, they called for unity and continued support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We won’t be silent. We’ll speak the truth and stand by the efforts to build a better Nigeria,” they concluded. “May Almighty Allah continue to guide and bless all who stand for what’s right.”
