WHERE FASHION MEETS AI: HOW ONE NIGERIAN DESIGNER IS REIMAGINING AFRICAN CREATIVITY WITH META.
When Fashion Meets AI: A Nigerian Designer is Leading the Charge
In a bold and inspiring move, Nigerian fashion designer Ifeanyi Nwune, the creative mind behind I.N Official, has partnered with Meta to unveil the world’s first-ever AI-powered fashion collection. The collection, titled Transcendence, is set to debut at Africa Fashion Week London on Saturday, August 9, 2025—and it’s unlike anything the fashion world has seen before.
What makes this collection groundbreaking? Every element—from the fabric and color choices to the storytelling and visual strategy—was designed using Meta AI tools.
“With Meta AI, we are transcending an African future fueled by unity, creativity, and technology,” Nwune shared. “AI has completely changed how we design, from the shape of a piece to the tiniest accessory detail.”
Using Meta’s ‘Imagine’ feature, the team created digital concept art, including a stunning design that blends traditional Agbada with the classic Japanese Hakama. These AI-generated visuals acted as digital mood boards, guiding the entire creative process. Meta AI also helped fine-tune the collection’s accessories, offering ideas that matched the brand’s futuristic Afro-Asian vibe.
But this partnership is about more than fashion—it’s a statement about the future.
Meta’s Public Policy Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Balkissa Idé Siddo, put it this way:
“We’re thrilled to see how Meta AI is helping African fashion stand out on the global stage. Our AI tools—available through apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger—are helping creators dream bigger and bring their ideas to life faster.”
This collaboration is part of Meta’s larger mission to support African creatives by providing easy-to-use AI tools that unlock new levels of storytelling and innovation.
As AI technology becomes more common in creative spaces, this project sets the tone for how fashion, culture, and technology can come together to spotlight African voices around the world.
With Transcendence, Africa isn’t just part of the conversation—it’s leading it.
