WHO WARNS EBOLA MAY BE SPREADING FASTER THAN INITIALLY ESTIMATED

The World Health Organization (World Health Organization) has warned that Ebola virus outbreaks may be spreading faster than initially thought, raising concerns about transmission control efforts in affected regions.

The alert comes as health authorities continue monitoring cases in parts of Africa, where response teams are working to contain possible chains of infection and prevent wider community spread.

According to WHO, early assessments suggest that gaps in surveillance, delayed reporting, and limited access to some affected communities may be contributing to faster-than-expected transmission patterns.

The organisation said it is working with national health agencies to strengthen contact tracing, improve testing capacity, and accelerate emergency response measures in high-risk areas.

Ebola is a highly infectious viral disease that spreads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids or contaminated materials. Outbreaks require rapid containment to prevent escalation.

Health experts have warned that weak healthcare infrastructure and limited awareness in remote areas can make outbreak control more difficult, especially where access to treatment centres is delayed.

WHO has urged countries at risk to intensify preparedness measures, including early detection systems and community education on symptoms and prevention practices.

Further updates are expected as surveillance teams continue to assess the situation and coordinate response efforts with local authorities.
