WHY I CAN’T SLEEP – WIKE EXPLAINS AS HE FLAGS OFF MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS IN KARU

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has admitted that he is having sleepless nights over the pressure to deliver developmental projects across Abuja and its satellite towns.

Speaking on Wednesday during the flag-off of the reconstruction and dualisation of Karu Road, from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction, as well as other township roads, Wike revealed that AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, and former FCT Senator, Philip Aduda, have been on his neck to bring more projects to the people.

Mocking current FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe, Wike said governance is not about “grammar” but about building relationships and bringing tangible projects.

“It’s not to say I’m a senator and nobody is inviting me. What matters is delivering the dividends of democracy,” Wike said.

He explained that after a late-night discussion with Senator Aduda, he agreed to expand the Karu road project to include more township roads that would open up the area.

Among the additional projects, Wike announced plans to rebuild:

Customs Clinic Junction to CBN Quarters Junction

Customs Clinic Junction to EFCC

NIA Quarters Road

Pasi Road

Primus Hospital Road

The minister promised that the projects, which will come with street lights, would be completed within 10 months. He added that the initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at boosting economic activities and improving infrastructure.

“Business opportunities will thrive here. Let Karu be the city everybody will be talking about,” Wike declared.

He also urged residents to remember both President Tinubu and AMAC Chairman Maikalangu during elections, jokingly adding that Maikalangu has been the reason he “cannot sleep.”

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
