WHY I QUIT CHURCH FOR OVER 10 YEARS – ACTOR YEMI SOLADE OPENS UP
Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has revealed why he stopped attending church services, saying he has been away for over a decade.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Solade recalled that his decision came in 2013 after a pastor at his church instructed him to stop taking acting jobs on Sundays.
The actor said the directive left him uneasy, as it directly interfered with his livelihood.
“I went to church with my wife in 2013, and the pastor told me not to take jobs on Sundays. That same work is what puts money in my pocket and allows me to give offerings. That was when I decided to stop,” he explained.
Since then, Solade said he has found peace and stability outside of regular church attendance. He dismissed the belief that life would fall apart without going to church, noting that his career and family life have remained strong.
“The notion that if you don’t attend church, your life will nosedive—I haven’t seen anything change. Rather, I have peace, I do well,” he added.
According to him, staying away from church has allowed him to focus more on his family and acting career, free from the pressures of committees, programs, and constant interruptions.
He clarified that his choice is not a rejection of faith but a personal decision to avoid unhealthy pressures that hinder growth and productivity.
