WIKE: ATIKU, OBI WILL TARGET ME IF TINUBU LOSES 2027 ELECTION

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he would become a major target of opposition politicians, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election.

Wike made the statement during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while defending his continued support for Tinubu despite remaining a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The minister said his open opposition to Atiku and Obi had exposed him politically, warning that he could face retaliation if the opposition takes power in 2027.

Wike said he would therefore not remain passive and allow Atiku to win the election, insisting that he would continue mobilising support for Tinubu.

He also dismissed reports that he planned to relocate permanently to Rivers State, saying his frequent visits were aimed at staying connected with his people and monitoring political developments in the state.

On his performance as FCT minister, Wike said 107 capital projects had been initiated under Tinubu’s administration, with 76 already completed. He added that 10 more would be inaugurated before the January elections, while the remaining projects would be completed before the end of the administration.

Wike further disclosed that 23 of 25 projects inherited from the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari had been completed, while six of eight projects inherited from the administrations of former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Umaru Yar’Adua had also been completed.

He challenged critics to compare the infrastructure development under the Tinubu administration with previous governments, insisting that no administration had done as much for Abuja as the current government.
