WIKE BREAKS RANKS, DECLARES SUPPORT FOR TINUBU OVER PDP
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared his intention to support President Bola Tinubu in the next presidential election, citing unresolved internal challenges within the opposition.
Wike stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has not drawn lessons from the political turmoil currently affecting the party.
He made the remarks during his first monthly media briefing for 2026 in Abuja.
According to the minister, the PDP failed to consult him regarding its choice of candidates, prompting him to prioritise support for individuals aligned with the President’s agenda rather than backing a specific party.
Wike clarified that his loyalty would be directed toward candidates who openly support the President, irrespective of their political affiliation. He emphasised that this position eliminates any conflict over being seen as working for a different political bloc, as his support is based on alignment with the President’s vision rather than party lines.
