WIKE CALLS FOR PEACE, UNITY AS FCT RESIDENTS MARK EID-EL-MAULUD

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on residents of the FCT to make peace, tolerance and dialogue central to their interactions as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Maulud. He urged residents to use the occasion to strengthen peaceful coexistence and promote understanding among people of different backgrounds.

Wike said the celebration provides an opportunity for residents to reflect on the teachings and virtues associated with Prophet Muhammad, particularly the values of compassion, patience, peaceful coexistence and respect for others.

The FCT Minister also encouraged residents to resolve disagreements through dialogue rather than confrontation. He stressed that peaceful communication and mutual understanding are important for maintaining stability in the nation's capital, where people from different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds live and work.

He urged Muslim faithful to allow the lessons of Eid-el-Maulud to influence their conduct beyond the celebration. According to him, promoting tolerance and extending goodwill to others can contribute to stronger relationships and a more peaceful society.

Wike further called on residents to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security across the Federal Capital Territory. He expressed hope that the celebration would encourage greater unity among residents and reinforce the values of respect, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
