WIKE WARNS CONTRACTOR: ABUJA APPEAL COURT COMPLEX MUST BE READY BY SEPTEMBER
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has issued a firm warning to the contractor handling the Court of Appeal complex in Abuja, stressing that the September 2025 completion deadline must be met.
Wike gave the directive during an inspection visit to the construction site in Dakibiyu, Jabi District, on Wednesday. The visit was part of his ongoing effort to ensure that major projects in the capital city stay on track.
During the inspection, the Minister expressed displeasure over the slow pace of the work and urged the contractor to speed things up. He reminded them that the issue of funding had already been addressed, so there should be no excuses for delay.
“I am afraid, very afraid,” Wike said in response to a question about the timeline. “But the contractor has said we will achieve it.”
Wike took issue with the contractor's request for “enough funds,” making it clear that the Federal Government had already committed to releasing payments on time.
“What do you mean by ‘enough funds’? You assured me that the project would be ready by September, and I assured you payment would be made by next week. So, no more excuses,” the Minister warned.
Wike emphasized that vague terms like “enough funding” would no longer be accepted as justification for delays. He urged the contractor to focus on fulfilling the agreed-upon deadline.
The Minister was accompanied on the site tour by the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, and other top FCTA officials.
The inspection is one of several steps Wike is taking to ensure that federal infrastructure projects in Abuja are completed on time and meet quality standards.
