WIKE’S CAMP MOCKS FUBARA.
The political turmoil in Rivers State has deepened further, with Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, mocking suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara over his recent public comments.
Fubara, who was suspended from office along with his deputy and several members of the State House of Assembly by President Bola Tinubu, declared that he no longer felt any sense of attachment to his role.
Speaking at a service of songs held in Port Harcourt for the late elder statesman Edwin Clark, Fubara said:
“Can’t you see how better I look? Do you think I am interested in it? Do you even know if I want to go back there? My spirit had already left that place long ago.”
The statement drew swift criticism from Wike’s camp.
In a post on X, Lere Olayinka responded sarcastically, likening Fubara’s stance to a broken marriage.
“It is not really compulsory to stay in a marriage your spirit already left. Simply opt out legally,” he wrote.

Fubara’s suspension followed prolonged political clashes with his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, over dominance in Rivers State’s political landscape. The conflict intensified dangerously, prompting threats from Niger Delta militants to target oil infrastructure.
In a bid to restore order, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and appointed retired naval chief Ibok-Ete Ibas as Sole Administrator. This federal intervention signals a major shift in the state’s power dynamics, casting uncertainty over the future of Fubara’s political career as tensions continue to mount.
