Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has etched his name in history as the first African artist to surpass 10 billion streams on global music streaming platform, Spotify.

The milestone was achieved after the cumulative streams from Wizkid’s entire catalogue — including lead and collaborative credits — crossed the 10-billion mark on the platform.

His collaboration with Canadian rapper Drake and British singer Tyla stands as his most streamed track on Spotify, amassing nearly four billion streams.

Wizkid’s most streamed project on the platform is Made In Lagos (Deluxe), which has recorded over one billion streams, further cementing the album’s global impact.

As a lead artist, his biggest record on Spotify remains Essence featuring Tems, which has garnered more than 333 million streams.

Meanwhile, American singer Billie Eilish has also set a new Spotify record, as her song Birds Of A Feather overtook Tones and I’s Dance Monkey to become the most streamed solo song by a female artist in the platform’s history.

Birds Of A Feather recently surpassed 3.37 billion streams, edging past Dance Monkey, which currently sits at 3.3 billion streams.
