‘WIZKID IS MY GUY, I ONCE SHELTERED HIM’ — US RAPPER WALE
Nigerian-American rapper Wale has opened up about his influence on the career of Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid.
In a recent livestream with comedian Carter Efe, Wale recounted how he helped introduce Wizkid to an international audience and supported him early in his career.
He revealed that he once hosted Wizkid, whom he affectionately called his “boy,” in Beverly Hills, California.
“I have always followed Nigerian music and enjoy many artists, even those I haven’t met. But there are some I know personally, like Wizkid. We’ve been cool for almost 10 years. I remember taking him to his first BET Awards show,” Wale said.
“That is my boy. I once accommodated him in Beverly Hills for an entire summer. We spent our time writing music and created a lot of songs together, including ‘Drop for Me,’” he added.
