WOMAN SEEKS DIVORCE IN ILORIN, SAYS HUSBAND NEVER INTRODUCED HER TO HIS FAMILY
A woman, Rihanat Abdulsalam, has approached an Area Court in Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, seeking to end her marriage to Saheed Adegunju over claims that she has never met his family.
Speaking before the court on Tuesday, Abdulsalam revealed that since her marriage, her husband had consistently refused to introduce her to his family despite repeated pleas.
“He gives excuses whenever I ask him to take me to his family. It continued until I even gave birth to our child,” she said.
The mother of one further alleged that Adegunju had abandoned his responsibilities both as a father and husband. She asked the court to grant her divorce, custody of their child, and an order compelling her husband to pay ₦30,000 monthly as child maintenance.
Presiding Judge Idris Etsu ordered that the court processes be served on the husband once again, stressing that the case would proceed regardless of his appearance. The matter was adjourned until September 30 for a hearing.
