Normal operations have resumed at the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) following the suspension of an industrial action by its workers.

The strike, which had disrupted activities within the commission, was called off after negotiations between labour representatives and management over welfare and working conditions.

Union leaders said the decision to suspend the strike was reached to allow further dialogue with authorities and ensure continuity of critical regulatory functions in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Management of the commission welcomed the suspension, describing it as a positive step toward resolving outstanding issues affecting staff.

The NUPRC is responsible for overseeing upstream petroleum operations in Nigeria, including licensing, monitoring production activities, and enforcing regulatory compliance.

Stakeholders have urged both parties to maintain constructive engagement to prevent future disruptions that could affect the country’s energy sector.

Workers are expected to fully return to duty as discussions continue on long-term resolutions.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
