RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons is on the verge of completing a big-money move to Chelsea, with the deal expected to go through after his side’s Bundesliga opener against Bayern Munich on Friday.

According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg (Sky Sports), the 22-year-old Dutch star will feature for Leipzig against Bayern before finalising his switch to Stamford Bridge.

Simons has already reached a personal agreement with Chelsea and has made it clear that he only wants to join the London club, despite interest from Manchester City and other European giants. All that remains is for Chelsea to finalise terms with RB Leipzig.

The attacking midfielder, who has previously played for PSV Eindhoven and Paris Saint-Germain, enjoyed an impressive spell at Leipzig last season, cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s brightest young talents.

Chelsea, under their new project of signing young and exciting players, sees Simons as a key addition to bolster their midfield creativity.

With personal terms agreed and the player’s mind set on Stamford Bridge, it looks only a matter of time before the Blues officially announce Xavi Simons as their latest signing.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
