YAYI PICKS APC GOVERNORSHIP FORMS
The lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has picked the All Progressives Congress governorship nomination forms for the 2027 Ogun State election.
The forms, valued at ₦50 million, were obtained on his behalf, signalling his formal entry into the race for the Ogun State governorship seat.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, on Tuesday presented the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to Adeola’s proxy at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Adeola’s move places him among the early contenders seeking to succeed the next governor under the ruling party’s platform.
The development comes as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has already fixed the presidential and National Assembly elections for Saturday, January 16, 2027.
INEC also scheduled governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections for Saturday, February 6, 2027.
According to the electoral body, party primaries and the resolution of related disputes are expected to take place between April 23, 2026, and May 30, 2026.
Campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections are set to begin on August 19, 2026.
Campaigns for governorship and state assembly elections will commence on September 9, 2026.
Adeola, a serving senator, is widely known in Ogun politics and has been linked with ambitions for the state’s top office.
