YULETIDE: NSCDC DEPLOYS OFFICERS ACROSS JIGAWA FOR FESTIVE SECURITY
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed officers across all 27 local government areas of Jigawa State to ensure a safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration.
The deployment comes as residents, especially Christian communities, intensify preparations for the Yuletide season with shopping, church programmes, family gatherings, and social events taking place across the state.
In a statement issued on Monday in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, the NSCDC spokesperson, Badaruddeen Tijjani, said the operation involves personnel from both regular and specialised units, including Operations, Anti-Vandal, and Intelligence departments.
According to the command, officers have been stationed at churches, markets, parks, major roads, public utilities, and other areas where large numbers of people are expected to gather during the festivities. Entry and exit points across the state are also being monitored to strengthen surveillance and prevent criminal activities.
The State Commandant charged officers to remain professional and strictly adhere to standard operating procedures while carrying out their duties. He stressed that the protection of lives, property, and critical infrastructure remains a top priority throughout the festive period.
The NSCDC also appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious movement or activity. Parents and guardians were advised to closely monitor their children, while the use of fireworks and other dangerous items was discouraged to avoid panic and fire outbreaks.
The command warned vandals and criminals against targeting government installations and public facilities, noting that anyone caught would be dealt with according to the law.
The NSCDC assured residents of continued collaboration with other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free celebration, while wishing Christians a Merry Christmas and all Jigawa residents a peaceful and prosperous New Year.
