Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has pledged full scholarships for the children of eight Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) operatives who died in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack along the Dikwa-Marte Road.

The governor made the announcement on Thursday during a condolence visit to the families of the deceased in the Fezzan ward area of Maiduguri. The tragic incident, which claimed the lives of the CJTF members, occurred on Tuesday when an IED detonated along the road.

During his visit, Governor Zulum also disclosed that each bereaved family would receive an immediate financial support package of N5 million to help meet their urgent needs.

“I am announcing initial assistance of N5 million for each family to cater to their immediate needs. Additionally, the Borno State Government will sponsor the education of the children left behind by the fallen CJTF members,” Zulum said.

He added that families of those without children would also receive government support through other designated relatives.

Governor Zulum hailed the late CJTF operatives as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of their communities. He assured their families that their courage and dedication would always be remembered.

He offered prayers for the repose of their souls and encouraged the grieving families to remain strong.

The governor was accompanied on the condolence visit by key government officials, including the Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Askira; APC State Chairman, Bello Ayuba; and the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, Mustapha Ali Busuguma, among others.
