The Federal Government has designated Wednesday, December 25, and Thursday, December 26, 2024, as public holidays for Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations. Additionally, Wednesday, January 1, 2025, has been declared a holiday to mark the New Year.

Announcing the holidays on behalf of the government, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended heartfelt festive greetings to Nigerians, urging citizens to embrace the spirit of the season. He called on everyone to reflect on the core values of love, peace, and unity that Christmas represents.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that the holiday season offers an opportunity for families and communities to strengthen bonds and foster harmony. He encouraged Nigerians to uphold these values, which are essential for national progress and development.

“Christmas is not just a time for celebration but also a period for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness, compassion, and goodwill to one another, transcending all differences,” he said.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity for all citizens. He also expressed optimism about the future, highlighting the Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Tinubu’s administration as a pathway to a stronger economy and a more prosperous nation in 2025.

While wishing Nigerians a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged everyone to approach the coming year with optimism and dedication to the collective progress of the nation.
